Topolino’s Terrace

Eat here for breakfast. The end.

JK but honestly, this is hands down my favorite character meal and possibly even my favorite breakfast on Disney property. I ate here for breakfast and there are no characters present at dinner, so this is just a Topolino’s breakfast post. But honestly, if the steak I had with my steak and eggs is also on the dinner menu I can’t imagine that dinner is not just as delicious as breakfast was.

First of all, let’s start with the location. Topolino’s is located on the top floor of Disney’s Riviera Resort. Let’s break that down for a second.

  • Top Floor. Who doesn’t love some top floor dining and terrace views? In sunny Florida. I mean seriously. And it’s not only the beautiful grounds surrounding the resort that you can see from up there. You also have views of the parks, which is pretty cool.
  • Riviera. The resort itself is beautiful but it’s also in a prime location for easy skyliner access to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. So you can just quickly hop over to one of those parks after breakfast. I’d recommend Epcot since it opens the latest, so you can eat breakfast AND make it in time for rope drop.
  • I know that we’re here to talk about breakfast because that’s the meal I ate there, but think about dinner for one second, and all of the fireworks you can see from the terrace if you have views of multiple parks. Just scroll back up for a quick sec to see the Epcot globe and picture fireworks over it. I mean…

Okay if you aren’t sold yet, let’s talk about the actual meal. Breakfast is a character meal and while character dining post Covid is not the same as character dining pre Covid, it was still pretty great. I got to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy all dressed up, and they also did some fun cute little dances just for me. JK it was for everyone but it felt like it was just for me at my table for one.

Seriously these guys are always smiling. I don’t even know how their faces don’t hurt.

And of course, last but certainly not least, they also have food at this meal. Each table starts with a pastry basket with spreads. I’m not a huge pastry person but, I mean, look at this. They literally took the only pastries I like and put them in a basket and threw in some butter and more chocolate. It was made for me I’m pretty sure.

Now this is obviously too much food for one person (remember this is just the pre breakfast pastry basket) so they brought me a box. I did not take it because I was heading to Hollywood Studios and then the airport but if you’re staying at the hotel or close by you could get breakfast for days just from the basket (the basket is bigger for bigger groups).

Next comes the meal. The breakfast menu is small but amazing. It’s the perfect mix of basic breakfast foods (waffles, eggs, yogurt) and more unique options. I had a hard time deciding because I usually rely on other people sharing with me when meals are delicious, and I was alone, but I ultimately went with the steak and eggs. It. Was. Perfect. There was an awkward moment when the waitress asked me how I wanted my eggs and I said “um. Cooked?” because I was expecting her to ask how I wanted my steak first and was thrown off. She meant scrambled, poached, overeasy, etc. Don’t worry though, I ended up with some medium rare steak and overeasy eggs which were the perfect mix, especially when paired with the mashed polenta they were sitting on and the beautiful mushrooms on top.

This postcard is also a really nice touch, especially at the current Covid time when character autographs are not currently a thing.

And one of my favorite parts of the meal was that I had a 7:30 am reservation, so I was able to hop on the skyliner for a 9 minute commute to Hollywood Studios, and still get in 30 minutes before opening.
